Managing Director ICTE
 
Specialized consultant in the tourist field, Fernando studied business management. In his professional career, he has been general director of the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE, in Spanish) since 2007. Previously he has worked as commercial director and training director of the same organization between 2003 and 2006.
 
He also worked as General Director of the Cantabria Cultural Center in Madrid (between 1990 and 2002) and has been president of the Spanish Bowling Federation (1988-1989) and member of the board of directors of the Spanish Federation of Journalists and Writers of Tourism (FEPET, in Spanish) (1992-1998).
 
Fernando has given courses and lectures, as a visiting professor, in Universities in several countries like Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Venezuela, and in around twenty Spanish universities.
In addition, he is a member of the Quality Commissions of the Rey Juan Carlos University and regularly publishes opinion articles and travel reports in various specialized journals in the tourism sector.
 
Expert in Tourism Quality Standards
 
In his years as managing director of the ICTE, the number of establishments certified in Spain has doubled, being now more than 2000. All of the Institute Quality Standards have become Spanish Public Norms and were formed Groups of Work within ISO for the elaboration of the World Standards of Tourism Quality with the impulse of the Spanish Government through ICTE and in which more than sixty countries are working.
 
He represents the Institute in the Affiliate Members section of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) where the ICTE has held a Vice-Presidency since 2007.
